Happy New Year!

Its been a whirlwind of the last two weeks. I just wanted to hop on real quick to wish everyone a Happy New Year and I hope everyone had a great holiday season, no matter what you practice.

Also on a little (but growing) side note, I’m FINALLY pregnant!

I got my BFP in the afternoon of December 22, but due to all the offices being closed from the 23rd to today, I haven’t been able to schedule an appointment to get confirmation and get my prenatal care set up.

I’ll be calling the office shortly to get everything set up to get started.

We are just so happy to finally be expecting a child. It took us 9 months of trying to finally get to this point. I have no right to complain since some of my forum friends have been trying for 18+ months but we only know that it gets harder every month to see negative tests and your next period arriving.

August 2014

is when my bottle of TUMS will be out of date.

How good can something be for you if it takes that long to expire?

/facepalm

The Duggars

Okay, I will say this part up front: I want Baby Josie Duggar and her mother Michelle to be healthy and happy. In no way, shape or form do I wish any harm to come to the Duggar family.

But oh yes, here it comes folks.

Michelle Duggar needs to stop pumping out kids. I’m sorry but her 19th child, that’s right, NINETEENTH child, was just born at 25 weeks gestation. 25 weeks is BORDERLINE viable with 24 weeks being considered the earliest viable gestational age with the current medical technology.

Her children are so busy taking care of each other that it seems like they never get to act like normal kids. Religion or not, kids deserve the chance to grow up without having 3 to 5 loads of laundry to do per day, not to mention how many dozens of glasses, plates, silverware that have to be washed (with OR without a dishwasher), the vacuuming, etc.

Michelle seems like she is just supposed to lay there and squeeze out kids instead of taking care of the ones she already has. I find it totally irresponsible that she agrees to just acting like a bitch in a puppy mill*, pumping out kid after kid. Her “equipment” has been under so much stress in the last 20 years that I can understand that it finally failed.

So all in all, I’m pissed that the Duggars keep flaunting their apparently abundant fertility while so many of my (online) friends are facing anywhere from 6 to 48 months of infertility without so much as a positive pregnancy test.

I wish TLC would see that Jon & Kate Plus 8 and 18 Kids and Counting is only making people learn that having litters or pumping kids out every 12 months seems to be acceptable when it really isn’t, not for the world’s resources, and not for the mother and childrens’ health.

* – And before I get any nasty emails or comments, the bitch in a puppy mill is the correct term – bitch is used as the name for a female dog who is still capable of reproducing.

Why do they even bother?

Okay. Here’s the deal.

A woman calls me and wants to pay for her son to get a room where I work with her credit card over the phone and place the charges on that card. Now, we have gotten screwed before with people canceling their credit cards after they’ve checked in and for the last four years, for anyone wishing to pay for a room on their credit card that we can’t see in person, we’ve required a copy of the front and the back of the credit card as well as a copy of their driver’s license with a written statement saying that they authorize us to charge XX amount to this card. We can reserve the room with the card without seeing it, but we need proof of card ownership to actually charge the card.

“But I don’t have a fax machine and I’ve never heard of a policy like that.”

“I’m sorry ma’am, but we need proof of this card being yours because there is too much of a chance of it being a stolen car-”

“Then I’ll just call the Hampton because I stay there all the time and they let me do it there! *click*”

Ugh. By all means, call them and spend twice the money there; they literally charge about twice what we do. So please, listen up. Just because one location or chain does something does NOT mean that ALL locations or chains do it. Its like comparing apples to oranges folks, you just can’t do it. The same thing goes with animals. We haven’t allowed animals for well over 3 years, and I get complaints every week about how the location they stayed at last night with the same chain allowed them, and I have to keep informing people that these are not corporate decisions, they leave these decisions up to each location.

When in doubt, CALL and ASK the location what their policy is first. If you’re not sure where you’re going to end up, but if you’re sure its going to be in the state that you’re going to make a pitstop in, pick up one of the coupon books. Sure, you may not be able to use the coupon, but you can at least see most of the motels in the area you’re headed to, complete with phone numbers. Most of the visitor centers/rest areas, at least in Tennessee, have a phone that the host/hostess on duty can use to call out for you if you don’t have a cell phone.

I don’t care what Doug says,

I’ve picked a set of names and I’m sticking to them. I even picked out our second set of boy names. Sadly, no, I haven’t gotten a BFP yet so this is just me making lots of plans ahead of time.

If you’ve seen me posting on a TTC message board, you’ve seen that Doug and I agree to disagree on Alexander Owen vs Owen Alexander. So we have agreed that we’ll scrap those both names and find another pair.

So, without further ado, here are the names for at least 2 girls and 2 boys.

Girls
Emma Victoria
Caitlin Marie

Boys
Zachary Ethan
Jackson Riley

I just still have to tell him I came up with the middle name for Jackson. He’s still at work right now so I can sit here and think about it.
